About Frankston Bobcats Basketball Club

At Frankston Bobcats Basketball Club (FBBC), we are more than just a basketball club – we are a vibrant, community-based organisation where friendships are built and lifelong memories are made.

Founded in 2014 as Peninsula Bobcats, our club began as a not-for-profit organisation run by a small administrative group. In 2023, the club restructured and became Frankston Bobcats Basketball Club, operating under a new volunteer committee. Since then, the club has grown significantly, with stronger community engagement, increased player numbers, and expanded opportunities for families to get involved.

We are proud of the strong foundations we have built to ensure sustainable growth, clear governance, and a positive club culture for years to come.

A Volunteer-Run, Community Club

FBBC is proudly a volunteer-based club run by parents.

Every team, every training session, and every game day exists because of volunteers. From our committee members to coaches, team managers, and helpers behind the scenes — our volunteers are the heart of our club.

To create teams and give children the opportunity to play, we need coaches.

Without coaches, we are simply unable to form teams.

If you have ever considered helping, now is the time. You do not need prior coaching experience — just a willingness to support and encourage kids.

Where We Play

Our teams primarily compete in the Frankston & District Basketball Association (FDBA).

We also have a small number of teams competing in:

  • Chelsea & District Basketball Association (CDBA)

  • Western Port Basketball Association (WPBA)

  • Casey Basketball Association (CBA)

Team placement across associations is determined by age group numbers, team availability, and competition structure. Our priority is ensuring players are placed in the most suitable competition to support their development and enjoyment of the game.

Team Formation & Player Placement

At FBBC, teams are organised by the club based on:

  • Age group eligibility

  • Skill level and playing experience

  • Development needs

  • Competition grading requirements

Our focus is on creating balanced teams that support player development, confidence, and enjoyment of the game.

While we do our best to consider individual preferences, final team placements are determined by the club to ensure fairness, competitive balance, and the best experience for all players.

Team availability depends on:

  • Number of registered players

  • Age group demand

  • Competition structure

  • Availability of volunteer coaches

As a volunteer-run club, team formation is always subject to securing a coach.
